What DeadGraph is
DeadGraph is a free, AI-powered knowledge base for the Grateful Dead's live concert history (1965-1995). It allows you to query information about shows, setlists, songs, recordings, and musicians via a conversational chat interface.
The service is provided as a demonstration project by an individual developer. It is not a commercial product and carries no service level guarantees.
Acceptable use
You may use DeadGraph for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
- Use automated scripts or bots to query the service at scale
- Scrape or systematically extract data from the service
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, geographic restrictions, or authentication
- Use the service in any way that degrades performance or availability for other users
- Attempt to access the service from outside the United States (the service is US-only)
- Share or resell access to the service
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
Access is free and intended for individual Dead fans and researchers. Bulk data access or API integration for commercial purposes is not permitted without explicit written permission.
AI-generated content and accuracy
DeadGraph uses AI to interpret queries and generate responses. While we take care to ground responses in verified data from the Internet Archive and public records, AI responses can contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies.
- Do not rely on DeadGraph for authoritative or legally consequential information
- Setlist data, dates, and personnel information should be verified against primary sources
- The AI may occasionally misattribute songs, dates, or venues
Content and intellectual property
The knowledge base is built from public sources, primarily the Internet Archive, under licenses compatible with non-commercial use (Creative Commons CC0, CC-BY, CC-BY-NC, and Public Domain works).
- Concert data - dates, setlists, venues, and track listings are factual information in the public domain
- Audio - DeadGraph does not host, stream, or redistribute audio recordings
- Lyrics - song lyrics are not reproduced without permission
- DeadGraph branding - the DeadGraph name, logo, and site design are owned by the operator
The Grateful Dead name and related trademarks belong to their respective owners. DeadGraph is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Grateful Dead or their management.
Rate limits and access restrictions
To ensure fair access for all users, the service applies rate limits on a per-user and per-IP basis. Specific limits may change as the service scales. Attempts to circumvent these limits are grounds for suspension.
Access is currently restricted to users in the United States. This may change in the future.
Service availability
DeadGraph is provided free of charge with no uptime guarantee. The service may be:
- Unavailable during maintenance or deployments
- Slow or degraded under high load
- Shut down or modified at any time without notice
We do not guarantee continuous availability and accept no liability for downtime or service interruptions.
Account suspension and termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any account that:
- Violates these terms of service
- Abuses the service or degrades it for others
- Attempts unauthorized access or circumvents security measures
No refunds apply because the service is free.
Limitation of liability
DeadGraph is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We make no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of the service
- We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service
- Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to zero dollars, as the service is free
Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of implied warranties or limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with applicable US federal and state law.
